Focal Point Challenge

This is for Michelle & Corey's anniversary. I also made it for the Moxie Fab Focal Point challenge.
It is a little Faux Watercolored. The flower is from SU's Fabulous Flowers. I inked it in Memento's new Morocco ink, then misted it with water in a mini mister, and stamped, then misted again, and stamped off the edges. The sentiment is AMuse: Essential Sentiments stamped in AMuse gray.
The paper is My Mind's Eye Indie Chic "Ginger". I love that whole pad of paper!!
The focal point of the card is edged in AMuse gray ink, to set it off against the patterned paper.
The PTI scallop edging is PTI gray paper, it matches the MME paper so well!

Mixed Media Canvas

This is my first Mixed Media Canvas. So I thought I would post it to the Ponderings blog, working out of the journal. And the Artists in Blogland, Show & Tell post.
I have spent the last year, probably, watching videos, reading tutorials... trying to figure this out.
I had this old 14"x 18" canvas from years ago, so I decided to paint over my previous attempts to paint with acrylics. (I usually watercolor, so acrylics are very different for me!)

Can you see the difference in this 2nd pic and the first? I hated my one flower, so I decided to paste paper over it. The Eiffel Tower paper is from a gift bag that I love so much, I don't want to give it away. Instead I make copies of it, and reuse it again, and again.
I cut out a shape of the leaves, well, I guess you would call it a mask. I placed it over a few of the leaves, and used an old Stampin Up word wheel, so that I could just stamp on the leaf. The one above is a partial phrase from Emily Dickinson.
That center flower is my favorite because of the shading, and the bud just to the right of center. I used a med soft charcoal pencil to do the shadows, then smudged with my finger. Then I repainted some of the white highlights on the blooms.
I also used some bubble wrap for the bigger background dots.

This shows some washi tape, travel rub-ons, and white pen to do some lines of dots.

Another Sketch

Laura & I sketched again yesterday, I like my background best. The centers were fun to do too.

Sketchbook 2: Homework

This was homework for Finding Things Around the House to sketch. Last Friday was the first gorgeous day we've had all summer. Laura and I decided to sketch outside. These are some citronella lanterns. The candle was very melted, just from the heat.  My perspective isn't quite right, but we had fun sketching!

Wish I Was There!!

Way back when! I think it was the last month of my design team work with Kim at Serendipity, Kim gave me this ? plastic bubble? I can't remember what it is called. Something to hold memories in, I think.
Anyway, on one of our stamping get-togethers, I used a JustRite stamp from the beach, and thought this would be perfect to hold a few shells and some sand.
(But I didn't add the sand, too messy!)
I watercolored with my aquapen. Dave didn't like the way I kept shaking the card, to get the shells just right! Tee hee, but I had fun, kinda like a shaker card!
I used Nestabilities Circles to cut a hole to fit around the bubble and hold it in place. It was a little small, so I used the area that is usually like an embossed mat, and it is folded up a little around the bubble. It holds it in place.

Flourishes Sketch Challenge 181

I had a fun stamping day with my mom, and this was my first card. I made it for the Flourishes Sketch Challenge this week. I used Flourishes Waterlily stamp set, and masked the lily pad, so I could put multiple buds around it. I stamped it in the new Memento Espresso Truffle, and stamped the sentiment in PTI Canyon Clay. The designer paper is MME's Indie Chic - Ginger.
