Semi- Retirement Tote

when i started this tote, i had the intent of retiring from my tote-making ways. i thought i was out of the "mood" for sewing. but as usual, i had fun seeing it take shape, and enjoyed making another one. mary wanted this one for her mom, and said she wanted khaki and red. i love the polka dot lining. i think it makes it fun.

i have 2 more totes that have been commissioned, then i might see what other types of bags that i can make. so stay in touch, if you would like to see the next generation of bags.

Double Berry Shortcake

i have been wanting fresh strawberry shortcake. so i went to Reid's Orchard, and got fresh picked strawberries(i wanted to pick them myself, but it was raining). dave suggested adding some blackberries that he had bought last week. i used Bisquick to make the shortcakes, and then rolled the dough in Michelle's homemade vanilla sugar. it was melt-in-my-mouth wonderful!
i have been seeing color combo: turquoise and red lately in some cards, and thought i would use that for my dessert bowl. the little deformed strawberry looks like a star to me. i wish i could save it. can i shellac it?

Another Birdie

i loved this paper, and just had to make some more of these. i love the new shapeabilities ribbon tags trio. it fits the "sending you sunshine" and "just saying hello" perfectly(both from A Muse).
i used my aquapen for the birds, with SU cool caribbean, soft sky, mellow moss inks. the bird is a dollar stamp.

Row of Trees

i finally used this beautiful stamp from Cornish Heritage Farms, called Row of Trees.

i used my fav faux watercoloring technique. i used Memento bamboo leaves on the leaves & grass, then the old olive(SU) marker to tap some darker areas, then spritzed it with gold glimmer mist, and stamped on watercolor paper. some of the image looks a little more watercolored, but i like the effect.

i added a phrase from Absolutely Fabulous(SU) to one of the cards.

Kissing Couple

this is the last card for next week's class. it is from A Muse, called Kissing Couple, and "smooches". it has more of the velvet brads, i love those. i paper pieced her skirt with the A Muse red vintage paper. we will also be using the swirl embossing folder with the Cuttlebug.
please see the sidebar for dates and times, if you are interested in taking the class.

Love Cake

here is another card from my class that will be on June 11th, and 13th at Serendipity.
it is using A Muse pink kitchen paper, A Muse Love Cake stamp and Mr & Mrs stamp. i used an aquapen with Memento Angel Pink ink to color cake layers, and then used a clear glaze pen to make the cake plate and frosting swirls shine. my camera couldn't capture the shine, but i love that you can feel the texture on the cake.
